It is not surprising turtles are a beloved animal across many cultures. The sea animal stirs introspection. For many, turtles are a source of inspiration on ways we can practice and have a more fulfilling and better life. Turtles’ symbolism spans back to ancient cultures like Chinese, Indian, and diverse Indigenous communities, who created works of turtle art that became spiritual symbols and totems for fertility, growth and wisdom. The teachings of these ancient cultures have transcended time, seeing as how now modern cultures continue to adopt turtles’ symbolism into their lives.
Persistence and Patience
In a lifetime, turtles migrate thousands of miles. Over several months, turtles can travel up to 12,000 miles! This is one of the reasons why turtles are known for persistence and patience. The route might be long and difficult, but turtles strength of character makes them endure and continue their journey. This can be a powerful mindset to have in life, where goals and changes might seem far away from attaining, but with persistence and patience we can achieve them.
Longevity and Wisdom
Some turtles have been recorded to live up to 150 years! This is why they are associated with longevity and wisdom. We all know the sayings that older people know more because of their lived experiences overtime. This is the same concept with turtles when thinking about the concept of emotional maturity. Over a length of time, we can grow to find inner peace and wisdom by the simple fact that time makes us learn many things. Additionally, their longevity is associated with living a long, healthy life. We all want a prosperous life full of health and vitality.
Understand the Meaning of Turtle Jewelry
Seeing as turtles are not only cute, but also symbolize a well-being we all work at and want to achieve. Many look at turtle jewelry as a valuable instrument to hold close these ideas of steadfastness, calmness, and patience. As mentioned above, humans have used jewelry for not only decorative purposes, but also as totems to carry with us.
Because turtles symbolize wisdom and patience, turtle jewelry also makes a thoughtful gift as a token of appreciation for someone you find those qualities in.
Unique Turtle Jewelry Pieces
Here are some beautiful and, most of all, unique items for turtle jewelry you can consider shopping for if you’re thinking you want a high-quality turtle piece.
Turtle Macrame Bracelet
For our turtle jewelry, we created the Leatherback Sea-Turtle Collection. We chose the leatherback because it has a cute distinction: 7 longitudinal ridges on its soft carapace. This is the reason why all our items have the signature 7 ridges on the turtle design. This is the Turtle Macrame Bracelet finished in turquoise color cord and also available in black. The turtle and beads are crafted from solid sterling silver .925. The bracelet adjusts for wrists up to 7.5 inches in width. This is a great bracelet to combine with other pieces with vivid colors.
Turtle Charms and Pendants
Charms and pendants might be the most popular form of jewelry because you wear your special piece close to your heart. The Two-tone Leatherback Turtle Pendant is one of our most versatile and unique items. The turtle pendant’s carapace is crafted from sterling silver .925. Its head, flippers, and tail are in solid 14k gold. A perfect item to wear with white and yellow jewelry. The pendant is available in a petite size for minimalistic lovers and in a classic size for those looking for it to be more visible.
Gold Turtle Pendant
We offer the Turtle Pendant in solid 14k gold as well. You may also choose between a Petite or Classic size. The pendant/charm is great for a chain or to solder on a beautiful gold link charm bracelet as your new piece.
Silver Turtle Pendant and Charm
If silver is more of your color, we lastly offer the Turtle Pendant in full sterling silver .925 with both petite and classic sizes available.
Turtle Silver Charm
If you’re a lover of bracelets you can slide your charms on, like Pandora, Brighton, Kay Jewelers, Chamilia, among others, we also designed the Leatherback Sea-Turtle charm to be compatible with these major designer brands. The added perk to this version is that the bail also allows the turtle to be compatible with chains up to 4mm thick. Therefore, you can slide it on a bracelet or chain.
Silver, Gold and Two-Tone Turtle Earrings
Did you know that the leatherback becomes the largest marine turtle in the world? This is another reason we drew inspiration from this gorgeous turtle as our choice for the design. Combine your turtle pendant with one of our cute, turtle stud earrings. Available in full sterling silver and full 14k gold as well as the two-tone silver and gold version.
Turtle Link Bracelet
For a beautifully crafted, elegant piece, the Leatherback Turtle Charm in an eight-inch link bracelet is a stunning choice. The lobster clasp makes this silver bracelet adjustable at any of the links, perfect for many wrists sizes.
Whether for a special occasion or because you’re a lover of cufflinks and like to collect them, the Leatherback Sea-Turtle is a unique design to purchase just for that. Next time you dress up formally, these cufflinks can be the perfect touch to complete your outfit.
Puerto Rico and Turtles
As a family-owned, designer jewelry store in Puerto Rico, the final reason we chose the Leatherback Turtle for one of our collections is because of its significance in the island. Known as “el tinglar” in Spanish, Puerto Rico holds an annual festival for the leatherback in the region of Luquillo. This municipality is located on the north-eastern side of the island, where there is a reservoir and conservation areas for the leatherback. All funds of the festival go to agencies and non-profits dedicated to their protection.
If you’re drawn to items with meaning, turtle jewelry is a great way to think about the ways you’d like to practice and emulate turtles’ virtues. These turtle jewelry pieces are also crafted from high-quality materials, meaning you can cherish them in longevity.
