Coquí el Original Moved!

Coquí el Original® is thrilled to share that we are relocating our store! Our new address is Calle de la Fortaleza #200, Viejo San Juan, Puerto Rico 00901, across from our previous address. As with many changes, this is a bittersweet transition. My family has been in 201 Fortaleza Street since 1965, a local, business tradition we draw a lot of pride from. 201 Fortaleza Street is where my grandfather, Natalio Barquet Chediak, planted the first Barquet seed in Puerto Rico and created a fruitful jewelry business legacy I am more than honored to continue today. While this change is from one side of Fortaleza Street to the other, there are years of sentimental value we are transitioning from. My father and designer of the Coquí el Original® line, Natalio Barquet Perez, grew up in that store. He worked summers there since he was 11 years old. For the past 3 years, I have been under my father’s mentorship, and I am incredibly grateful to him for trusting me to run our small, but historically-rich family tradition. I am looking forward to continuing to spearhead the business, expand the presence and awareness of our Coquí el Original® brand, at our new 200 Fortaleza Street location.

Daniela Barquet

Daniela Barquet is the 4th generation owner of her family's jewelry store located in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico since 1965. The business tradition was started by her great-grandfather, Issac Barquet, in 1920. Daniela graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's in the History of Art and Architecture and a Minor in Italian Studies. Daniela continues to grow under the mentorship of her father, Natalio Barquet Perez, who is a renowned, certified jeweler in Puerto Rico.
