The leatherback sea-turtle, known in Spanish as “el tinglar,” is the largest marine turtle in the world. A symbol of longevity, the leatherback can live over 100 years. What makes them very distinctive is that they have 7 longitudinal ridges and a soft carapace. At Coquí el Original® we created the Tinglar Collection because in Puerto Rico we love our turtles. Specifically for the leatherback, we have an annual festival (El Festival del Tingalr) in the Municipality of Luquillo where funds go towards nonprofits dedicated to conservation efforts of the species.
