We are officially in the highest shopping season of the year! Consumers increasingly show that intentionality and meaning are what is most precious when gift-giving. Gifts that warm the heart and create memories are the hallmark of the Holiday season. Here at Coquí el Original®, we offer fine jewelry items that meet those criteria. Designed in Puerto Rico from a family business that spans back to 1920, our beautiful collections crafted in solid 14k gold and sterling silver .925 are meant to ignite cherished feelings and memories of Puerto Rico’s nature and beauty. Below is a selection of some unique fine jewelry items to gift this 2024 holiday season.
1. The Iconic Puerto Rico Maga Flower with Coquí Charm – Artistic Piece
While the hibiscus is commonly thought to be from Puerto Rico, it is a flower native to the Pacific. The national flower of Puerto Rico is called the Maga flower, endemic to the island. To
make it distinctively Boricua (from Puerto Rico), a beautifully crafted solid 14k gold Coquí charm with diamond eyes is soldered to the large sterling silver .925 flower pendant. The artistic jewelry piece is detailed with yellow sapphires and diamonds at the end of the flower’s pistil. Anyone who sees this pendant design and knows Puerto Rico will immediately understand its symbolism. Truly a one-of-a-kind high-quality jewelry gift item for Christmas and the Holidays.
2. Diamond Sun and Coquí Drop Earrings – Perfect for an Elegant Night Out
Another incredibly unique fine jewelry item at Coquí el Original®, these solid 14k gold earrings feature the Sun with diamonds in a pavé setting and the Coquí with diamond eyes. These earrings are also available in sterling silver .925. The coquí is a cute and very small tree frog native to Puerto Rico. While they have now spread to other areas of the world, they are originally from Puerto Rico and a symbol of our culture. While the Sun is a universal design, it is also meant to represent our warm, vibrant culture and tropical weather.
3. The Puerto Rico Bracelet – Customize Charms
One of our most popular sterling silver .925 bracelets, the Puerto Rico link charm bracelet, features the Diamond Sun, Coquí Frog, and Puerto Rico Map Charms. At 8 inches long, the
bracelet can clasp at any link to adjust for size. The Map comes with a diamond over the “i “ of Puerto Rico. These bracelets are also great if you’re looking to add other charms from our collections over time.
4. Sun Cable Bracelets – Perfect for Stacking
Both very durable and stunning, the cable bracelet is crafted in stainless steel while the sun and clasp are in solid sterling silver .925. Suns feature in the center diamonds in pavé setting. Available in black, white, and yellow finishes. The cable is anodized in oxide at very hot temperatures, which turns the stainless steel into the preferred color. These color finishes do not chip away or fade.
5. Taíno Coquí Ring – Indigenous Petroglyph Version of the Coquí Tree Frog
Our indigenous community are called the Taíno and have lived in Puerto Rico since pre-colonial times. A testament and evidence as to how the coquí frog has inhabited our island for centuries is how the Taíno community carved petroglyphs depicting our cherished tree frog. We have come to name the carvings and drawings of the frog as the Coquí Taíno. Illustrated above is our rendition of the coquí Taíno as a fine jewelry ring crafted in sterling silver .925. The Coquí Taíno Collection features bracelets, earrings, and pendants as well.
6. Salsa Dancers Pendant – Perfect for Dancing Lovers
This Salsa Dancers pendant in solid 14k gold can be a perfect gift idea for a salsa lover. Salsa music and dancing are a major part of Puerto Rico’s history and culture. Places like Cuba, New York, and Puerto Rico were hubs experimenting on Afro-Caribbean beats and sounds that then created the genre of salsa which exploded in popularity during the 70s and has left a lasting impact in music. The instrumentalism and lyricism of salsa create a dynamic and extremely fun rhythm to dance to. The Salsa Dancers Collection by Coquí el Original® honors that wonderful musical legacy.
7. Leatherback Sea-Turtle Macramé Bracelet – Perfect for Everyday
This turquoise color braided macramé bracelet features a sterling silver .925 leatherback sea-turtle design. The leatherback turtle is known for its 7 distinct ridges and becomes the largest marine turtle in the world. While not native to Puerto Rico, the island protects these turtles and their nests and holds an annual festival in the municipality of Luquillo to raise funds for conservation efforts. At Coquí el Original®, we are proud sponsors of the Puerto Rico Conservation Trust also known as Para la Naturaleza.
8. Petite Coquí Ring – Best Seller
